Building Community within the PE Setting

PE Norms: How is PE and the Graded Core Values Connected?

During the first week of school, our PE classes used the thinking routineChalk Talk, to uncover our ideas about the Graded Core Values and their connection to PE. Each class came up with specific examples as to how the core values of inclusive, curious, responsible and risk-taker/perseverance could look and sound like within the PE setting.

Below is what Grade 9 chalk talked. They then synthesized the information into over-arching themes.

Be friendly, open-minded and optimistic, include others and communicate

Ask questions, participate and search for new and/or additional information

Respect, maintain personal organization and collaborate

Decision-making, set goals, challenge yourself and be different
